Description
Let the fiddle and banjo be the soundtrack to your run as you support the second oldest folk festival in the region. Benifitting the Bascom Lamar Lunsford “Minstrel of Appalachia” Festival and the Junior Appalachian Musicians, a local program of the Madison County Arts Council that teaches mountain traditions through music and dance education, the Fiddlin’ 5K Road Race will take off from the heart of Mars Hill College’s scenic campus, less than 20 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina.
The race will wind through the campus past historical sites with local music fading in and out as you go, encouraging you on those Madison County hills. It will loop through the scenic surroundign Mars Hill and finish back on the main quad of campus for a kids’ dash, good music, beautiful awards made by local artisans, delicious food by Earthfare, and an opportunity to give back to global communities through a service project with Sole Hope. Sole Hope is a local non-profit whose mission is: Offering hope, healthier lives, and freedom from foot related-diseases through education, jobs, and medical relief.
